DANNY & MARIA’S WEDDING

in Canary Wharf

I loved both the venues these two picked for their wedding: the grandeur of Norwich Cathedral balanced perfectly with the relaxed elegance of the back garden reception. And both were a dream for taking photos!

Getting ready

Maria’s parents' garden has a long lawn leading down to the river. It was ready with festoon lights and a stretch tent before I arrived on the wedding morning. The girls were all there, with hairdressers set up around the dining table, while others in the family put up finishing touches around the house.

Malc joined the boys at the hotel as they were kilting-up and took some photos as they finished their preparations and headed over to the Cathedral.

The cathedral wedding

Maria arrived with her Dad, met the bridesmaids and we made our way inside. It’s such an impressive space and a slightly intimidating aisle walk for these ladies. Their formal ceremony took place in the presbytery of the cathedral, under giant stained-glass windows.

Once all the formalities were taken care of, Danny and Maria walked out to the cloisters to greet all their guests. It was a scorching hot day perfect for chatting with canapés in the cloister gardens. They had musical duo Truly Medley Deeply to play as we took some group photos and guests played lawn games. Malc's a bit of a bird geek so he loved spotting the peregrines who live at the cathedral.

It's just a little stroll through the cathedral to the refectory where they held the wedding breakfast and speeches. It was the perfect spot for this architect pair, and since its full of windows it was the perfect place for us too.

Guests got on the wedding bus to go to the evening reception while we took Maria and Danny for some photos in the cathedral grounds then drove on to join the party.

Back garden wedding reception

Back at her parents' house Truly Medley Deeply were ready to get things going on the dancefloor (they're incredible for evening entertainment, really recommend you check them out if you're looking for a fun band at your event). Filly and Foal were all set up too and kept everyone's glasses topped up as well as their tummies full of pizza.

We loved how Maria had planned different spaces for dancing, sitting, eating and photo boothing. She really considered how to make the garden work for the evening and it turned out so beautifully. The lighting really made the place sparkle as it got dark, with the light from the dance floor lighting up the tent… Plus their guests really knew how to party.

Can't believe it's been a year, thanks for having us! - Nom x
