Glyn & Bex’s WEDDING

We took at little drive to Highbury Hall in Kings Heath for this halloween themed wedding day. It was delayed due to the pandemic, but so much fun that it was worth the wait.

wedding morning preparations at Highbury Hall

The bridal room at Highbury is such a special place to get ready. There’s a four-poster bed in the main room, with a view over the lawn, so you can spy on guests as they arrive. There’s an adjoining room for hair and make-up (a changing room and en suite too). The gorgeous details and old photos of former residents are totally unique to this incredible house.

Bex got ready with her bridesmaids, hair and makeup and an unwanted wasp. Katarina Harvatic interpreted Bex’s hair and make up wishes perfectly.

Meanwhile, Glyn and the guys were arriving downstairs, and having a few photos outside, which meant we could have a peek at their outfits. I love that he went with the top hat and tails, it worked so well with this spooky themed wedding.

the wedding ceremony

Their solemn ceremony had the most funereal vows, by their own design. These two have the most wonderful bunch of friends and family who were so keen to celebrate with them after the ceremony. They made their way out to the lawn for drinks and to chat to the newly weds. We gathered everyone for a big group photo and a few informal family pictures.

We left the guests to relax while we went for photos of just Glyn & Bex in the surrounding grounds. Then it was time to head back in for the wedding breakfast with the Bride and Groom making their entrance down Highbury’s stunning staircase.

They had their speeches before the meal and guests sat at their spooky table to listen. We loved the decorations, especially the place names, each one was a tiny cardboard coffin with a miniature bottle of drink inside.

The team at Highbury have to be the most underrated wedding staff in the whole of Birmingham. This wedding breakfast was delicious, and their understated service is really delightful.

With all the formalities taken care of we moved back into the ceremony room which had been transformed for the wedding disco. The DJ was good fun getting things going with the first dance and persuading most of the guests to get up and dance.

We love that guests can explore the rest of this historic building at weddings. We had the photo booth set up in a room next door to the dancing (check out the video of that). We took some photos with Glyn and Bex upstairs and various guests in the library and on the balcony. There are so many interesting facts and fun spaces to discover.

Happy first anniversary Glyn & Bex. What a fun day to look back on! Much love - Nom & Malc x
