Aimee & joe’S WEDDING at bilston Brook Barn, Lichfield
A family-first wedding with sunshine, kids underfoot, and food you could wander back to
We met Aimee and Joe through her brother’s wedding, then got to know them properly while photographing their baby TJ throughout his first year as part of our one year package. By the time their wedding came around, it already felt like photographing friends, so we were genuinely excited to see everything come together.
Wedding morning preparations
The morning started at Aimee’s parents’ house, where a big gang of girls filled the place with noise, laughter, and hair and makeup prep. TJ was very much the man of the moment, soaking up the attention. One of the loveliest little moments was Aimee’s next door neighbour popping out for a chat as she was leaving, a small exchange that said a lot about how rooted and loved this family is.
the wedding ceremony
The guys got ready on site at Bilston Brook Barn and headed into the ceremony space. The ceremony was sweet and relaxed, with little kids happily mooching about. When it was time for Aimee and Joe to walk back up the aisle together, TJ plonked himself right in the middle, completely content, and had to be gently scooped out of the way by his pops.
Outside, guests formed a tunnel of bubbles for the newlyweds, with TJ right there in the middle of it all. We followed that with some big group photos- these two clearly have an incredible group of people around them.
One of the things we love about weddings at Bilston Brook Barn is the space. Guests could spread out, sit and chat in the sunshine, and kids had room to roam. At one point, they even got to meet a pony, which felt like a bonus no one knew they needed. We took a gentle wander with Aimee, Joe, and TJ for some family photos, snacks firmly in TJ’s hands, exactly as it should be.

Later, guests were invited back inside for the speeches. Hearing Aimee’s dad and Joe speak about her, especially about what a wonderful mother she is, was really special and one of those moments that really sticks with you.
Food was served from a BBQ food van outside and it was a solid ten out of ten. Crepes, waffles, and ice cream stalls followed for pudding, and the whole setup encouraged people to help themselves when they fancied it. Some guests stayed inside, others drifted back outside, and everything flowed naturally without being over-structured.
Aimee’s mum made the wedding cake, and they gathered everyone together to watch it being cut before heading straight onto the dancefloor for their first dance. We loved the layout, with the DJ near the doors so dancing stayed connected to guests relaxing outside. The sofa overlooking the dancefloor was a particularly good touch.
In the side room, which had been the ceremony space earlier in the day, we set up the photo booth. It became a little hub where guests popped in to hang out, take silly photos, and leave messages in the guest book.
One absolute highlight of the day was Aimee’s grandparents sharing the sweetest little dance together, followed by them telling us the story of their relationship. They are proper treasures. Grandad even made it onto the dancefloor for a boogie with the bride.
