James and Alice’s WEDDING at Chenies Manor

wedding morning preparations

Have you ever seen a more special room for getting ready with your bridesmaids? The stunning tapestries on the wall, historic objects and the priest hole. It felt like we were adding another important date to the history of the place.

the wedding ceremony

A dash through the rain and a nervous walk down the aisle brought us to their sweet ceremony. It was sprinkled with laughs and readings. Then they were announced as husband and wife and headed back out into the rain!

Thank goodness for wedding umbrellas and plenty of space for guests to mooch around in the house with drinks. And for caterers bringing canapes to all the different rooms! We really liked feeling like Alice & James owned the place, with their guests visiting for a party.

James and Alice had a few quiet moments to chat in the marquee, and we snapped the details of their set up. I love what they did with the tables and the cake decor. Then we braved the rain for a few photos around the grounds and in the house.

James and Alice were announced into the wedding breakfast and the feasting began. I would 100% eat this wedding breakfast again given half a chance, it was incredible. We love the big sharing bowls and food being passed up and down the tables.

These speeches were a thing to behold. We love that Alice got to set the record straight with her version of how they met. And one of the best men did a History of the World in 100 objects (think you need to be a Radio 4 listener to get that reference) style presentation of their relationship.

There was cake and a cheese board to keep the evening running smoothly. The guests hoovered it up, there was barely any cheese left from this huge tower. The dancing was good fun and the photo booth was just on the edge of the dancefloor right in the action. And outside (dodging the occasional rain shower) guests chatted round the fire pit.

Isn’t the marquee cute by candle light. There was such a lovely atmosphere in there for the nighttime.

Happy first anniversary! With love Nom x
