Sarah & David's wedding at Norton Fields Barn, Warwickshire

Click for their engagement photos

Sarah and David’s wedding started the day at St John the Baptist Church in their home city of Leicester, before the party moved on to the lovely Norton Fields Barn in north Warwickshire.

It was a beautiful day of friendship, cake, crazy golf, wind-swept couples photos, shorts and sandals - David was never going to stay in a suit all day!

Sarah & Paul's Wedding at The Old Rectory House Hotel, Redditch

Yesterday we got to take photos of Sarah and Paul’s gorgeous wedding at Old Rectory House Hotel, joining not just the two of them together but their two families. Tucked away in a quiet spot in Redditch, Old Rectory House really works for a quiet and intimate wedding, and they have a cool teepee area if the blazing sun gets too much.

The day was packed with sweet moments like all three kids doing readings in the ceremony, a teary joint speech by Sarah and Paul, a game of hide and seek on the lawn (Sarah was surprisingly good at hiding despite her white dress) and a sparkler tunnel.

Sarah and Paul also have a cheeky side so there were packs of Cards Against Humanity on the tables and some rude writing with the spare sparklers.

Bridget and Mike's Wedding at Halecat House in the Lake District

In his speech on Saturday Mike said that even though it seemed impossible to convey their love in words it was an important thing to do. To quantify the immeasurable in honour of their relationship.

There’s something he couldn’t say, that these two can’t see, because they’re at the very centre of it. They have create a glow around them, which makes the people around them a little more wonderful, each a little more radiant.

We’ve seen Bridget having that effect for years, now they’re up to it together.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a halo, it’s more fiery than that. Perhaps it’s more of a rhinestone glitter, a sparkle of magic. It’s unstoppable and irresistible. And Saturday was covered in it.

Aimee and Joe's Wedding at Bilston Brooke Lichfield

This weekend we were back at Bilston Brook Barns to shoot the wedding of Aimee and Joe - also knows to us as TJ’s mom and dad. Nom has been visiting these guys recently for three shoots documenting TJ’s first year so they already feel like old friends and we were excited to see them make it official and have a big party.

TJ was content to be at the centre of the celebrations all day and we managed to get some sweet shots family shots. Aimee and Joe’s friends and family brought the party the energy it deserved. Good friends = good times. Good food and good music also helps things along the way, so a big bonus shout to Pro Roasts Events Catering with their bbq menu and Ric from The Best Men DJs who gave us one of the best and most creative DJ sets we’ve seen for ages.

Andrew and Sophie's Wedding in Worcestershire

Scorching good times. Andrew and Sophie got married then threw a party for their favourite people in a friend’s field. And they hired a walk-in fridge. Genious.

Rita and Tom's Wedding at Sandwell Register Office and The Physician in Birmingham

Rita and Tom are having a big wedding in Portugal, but before they jet off in a few weeks time they invited Malc to photograph their intimate family wedding ceremony at Sandwell Register Office.

After the ceremony Rita and Tom took the party to The Physician in Birmingham, with a meal in one of the private dining suites, and an evening party out on the terrace. It was great fun taking photos of Rita and Tom around The Physician, which is a classy bar and restaurant in Edgbaston with lots of details and decor that reference it’s 19th century history.

a Priya Parker appriciation post

Otherwise known as :

Here’s that lady I was talking about who has great advice for shaping your wedding to feel how you want it to feel for you and your guests.

I love that Priya Parker’s ideas are fun and thoughtful ways to make events work better. It’s about being intentional and the results are really delightful.

And so, because I rabbit on about her a lot, I thought I’d put a few of her main points and some links together so I can share them with you more easily. I really love thinking these things through and I think you might too… and if you do we’ll surely all be set for a great wedding. So that’s win-win!

She has a whole wedding section on her website, including some of my favourites: 10 wedding planning questions (which will help you think about the purpose of your wedding day and head towards it with your plans) and 5 ways to reinvent traditions (which will help you to choose which traditions to ditch and which you can shape to fit you as a couple).

Jon & Steph’s cake receiving line

Her website has lots of good sections, freebies and things to read. I particularly love the comments sections of her Instagram posts where her followers share their suggestions and tips for good plans. This post about reimagining traditional wedding rituals has so many real-life ideas in the comments.

We greeted our guests by pouring a glass of champagne as each of them arrived and had a small cocktail hour before the ceremony.” - @studioqevents

(Which reminds me of when Jon & Steph served everyone cake at the end of their wedding ceremony instead of having a traditional receiving line)

Priya’s book The Art of Gathering is great if you want to deep dive into the stages before, during and after a gathering and how to make the most of each stage for you and your guests at any type of event. We devoured her audio book in the car driving to so many events.

Charlotte and Luke's Civil Partnership Ceremony at Aston Wood Golf Club

Charlotte and Luke’s civil partnership at Aston Wood Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield was an evening-only event, so we got to have fun with sparklers straight after the ceremony and take some cool couple shots under the festoon lights in the dark. We love how Charlotte and Luke kept everything low-key, just chilling (and a bit of dancing) with family and friends. They also had live magic and their snack game was incredible. Pork scratchings and scampi fries? Yes please!

Will and Sarah's Wedding at Hallé St Peter's in Manchester

We knew this big Manchester wedding would be excellent. Two lovely, friendly people, two beautiful venues, and a hefty dose of Scottishness, it was always going to be a winner.

We adored spending the day with Will and Sarah and the noise their guests made when they kissed at the top of the aisle showed how much love they have for them too.

There was lots of silliness (find a photo where Will doesn’t have a cheeky grin on his face), the ceilidh dance was huge, and Sarah’s veil definitely didn’t fall in the canal!
