Why we love photographing weddings at Rowheath Pavillion

After photographing weddings across Birmingham and the West Midlands for more than 15 years, there are certain venues we can’t wait to return to … and Rowheath Pavilion is firmly on that list.

It’s relaxed, full of character, in a great location and genuinely lovely to work in. If you’re planning something laid back it’s well worth a look.

Here’s why we love photographing weddings at Rowheath Pavilion — and why it might be perfect for you too.

Brilliant spaces to enjoy… and take photos

Rowheath Pavilion offers loads of variety when it comes to wedding photography:

  • On a sunny day, the grounds are full of happy people out playing and picnicing on the grass, which creates such a lovely, lively atmosphere in photos

  • You have the patio and Terrace Room to yourselves, giving you private space for group shots and quieter moments

  • Indoors, the building has real warmth and personality — perfect if the weather turns or you want something a bit more intimate

  • across the road the field allows for more space, and is usually quieter incase you want to sneak off for a moment just the two of you.

A relaxed, friendly team (which makes a huge difference)

The team at Rowheath Pavilion are one of the reasons we genuinely enjoy working here. They’re relaxed, attentive, and friendly, which sets the tone for the whole day.

When the staff are calm and welcoming, couples feel more at ease and that always shows in the photos. It’s the kind of place where things feel looked after without ever feeling formal or stiff.

Character-filled space you can make your own

Rowheath Pavilion has bags of character (those arched windows and gorgeous flooring!) so the space already looks great as it is.

That said, it’s also a fantastic blank canvas if you love adding your own touches. Whether you’re into flowers, signage, colour, or keeping things simple and unfussy, the venue works with you rather than against you.

Ceremony and reception in one place

One of the biggest perks of Rowheath Pavilion is that you can hold both your ceremony and your reception on site. Which saves on logistics and means you can spend that time with your guests instead of travelling.

From a photography point of view, this is a dream. It means more time for relaxed portraits, candid moments with your guests, and actually enjoying your wedding rather than watching the clock.

Flexible catering (and food vans!)

Food is a big part of any wedding, and Rowheath Pavilion gives you loads of flexibility here. They offer recommended caterers, or you can choose what suits you best.

One of our favourite things? They often host food vans, which work brilliantly for weddings and give you loads of variety. You can even pop by when a food van is on site to:

  • See how the setup works

  • Get a feel for the atmosphere

  • Sample the food before booking (always a win)

It’s a great option if you’re after something a bit more informal or fun.

It’s in a great location

Rowheath Pavilion is really close to Bournville, great for transport links.

If you’re thinking about including the St Francis of Assisi Church or the iconic Carillon as part of your day, it’s all right there. Add in Bournville Park and the nearby Worcester and Birmingham Canal, if you fancy for photos and you’ve got loads of variety without travelling far.

You could even sneak off to the iconic Cadbury Factory shop!

A venue with a story

The history of Rowheath Pavilion is genuinely cool, and you can feel it when you’re there. It’s not a soulless space, but somewhere that’s been at the heart of the community for 100 years as a leisure space. It has personality and a sense of place, which is something really special.
