BIG FAT REVIEW OF THE YEAR

We shared a big, joyful reel over on Instagram to round up our year (see it here), but it felt right to make a little more space here too. A slower corner of the internet for some of the individual images and stories that deserve a little linger.

A fresh coat of paint:

A special moment for us was doing our rebrand with Rachel. Taking a moment to celebrate where Mustard Yellow is now and add a bit more fun and colour!

Unrelatedly, except subconsiously maybe, we also painted our lounge head to toe entirely in a similar shade of yellow. Even the radiators. No regrets.

Family Photo Shoots

One of my favourite bits of the year has been families inviting me back. Whether that's wedding clients with growing families, or One Year Packagers hanging out for three sessions throughout the year, the connection is unbeatable!

I love getting to put a frame around your lives and show you the magic.

We’ve spent some time thinking about how we share our work too. Creative and thoughtful ways to share stories within parents’ wishes, protecting little identities. It’s a creative challenge, and we care about getting it right.

The imperfect moments at home have my whole heart this year. The mess, the softness, the things that would never make a ‘shot list’… and yet say everything.

This little unassuming shot. capturing a family milestone without the cliche milestone card. These two who have music woven through their story. Getting to play guitar to this baby who they’ve longed for a long time, while he feeds… It’s nothing unusual. But it’s incredibly special.

Moments you don’t plan for. In the heat of this summer, after paddling in the lake. The kids soaked thrugh and needing a full outfit change. Cloth nappies. The wrestle to dress a soggy toddler. And trying to get your feet clean and dry so you can put your own shoes back on. Choas and perfection.

Events and Celebrations

This year was full of gatherings.

Graduations. Proms. Big birthdays. Christenings. Rooms full of people showing up for one another.

Birmingham Business Photos

Malc spent a lot of the year working with local businesses, and we loved the variety and new places. Mostly Brummies too.

Food vans, properties, launches, orthotics specialists, authors, products, headshots, — new places, new stories, and the joy of seeing people build things they care deeply about.

I’m working at sharing more of our work with organisations in 2026!

Vendors

We’ve work alongside all kinds of suppliers this year. People who bend over backwards to bring the sparkle to all kinds of events.

This is Wayne from Hogarth's Solihull. He was the linchpin in the plan for this secret proposal. He offered to show our couple to the baby shower Monika thought they were attending. It was, of course, a white lie to get her to the perfect spot. After Tafara got down on one knee Wayne popped back out with a tray of drinks. Look how invested he is in this plan! Calm, brilliant, fizz at the ready. You can spot the gift bag for the baby quietly abandoned in the background, a tiny detail that says everything.

We share our favourite vendors and venues here… incase you’re looking.

Wedding Photography

Everything came together for Aimee and Joe’s wedding. Something was in the air.

We first met them at Aimees brother’s wedding, then got to know them throughout their One Year Package and rounded it all off photographing their wedding. They had the best guests. The kind who bring noise and wholehearted joy.

It was un-wordable magic.

The light and this beautiful couple at Woolaton Hall- cannot wait to be back there this Summer.

These two had a UK registry office ceremony before their big wedding abroad. After the ceremony, they took each of their parents aside to let them know they were expecting a baby!

Something we’ve thought about a lot this year is the love at weddings. Look beyond the obvious vows and first dance big ticket moments to the real, and often unapplauded love.

And the sheer volume of it. All the outfit decisions, shoe searches, even backup outfits. all the travel plans and logistics. All the acts of generosity through handmade decorations or friends spending evenings putting together invites and favours. It speaks so much of a kind of community of love for a couple which comes together at their wedding.

The photos above are a little summary of that. This guest has a reputation for being able to wrap up that love with a bow. For this wedding she made a personalised Monopoly game, full of our couple’s special places and details. Decorated with so much care and attention.

Couldn’t tell you about this wedding without mentioning this man on one leg. This is Mathew Knight the Magician. He stunned the guests. He drew pictures inside people’s clenched fists and made their wedding rings transport to his shoe laces. Even watching closely we’ve got no idea! The room was kind of shell-shocked when he left . A legend, honestly.

The kids room during this church wedding. I love the love of friends who step out to care for the kids so others can be fully present for the ceremony.

And that’s a wrap folks.

We were actually at our last wedding of the year 2 days ago. So we’ll have some pictures of that to share soon.

All the best, all the time.*
