Yesterday was the official launch of our Erdington Foodbank, we held a little gathering of our supporters, partners and volunteers. But the most important thing happened before the notorieties arrived. We gave out food for nearly 30 people, to help them through the next week. What really goes on at Foodbank?
Volunteers receive food donations, scan and store them. They greet people attending with a hot drink and slice of home made cake, then ask about food preferences and then prepare a bag with a weeks worth of food for their household. They add in treats and toiletries. And they offer a listening ear.
